LOUISA, A WORD OF LOVE
When Isabelle (Alison Macro) flees from the orphanage, she is taken in by two romantic adventurers. But not everyone sees it quite the same way. They are snubbed at the engagement party of Louise, the daughter of a rich industrial. Louise, who is to be married off against her will, revolts against her narrow-minded family and friends. During the night she flees from the castle with Isabelle and the two men. When World War I breaks out, they decide to go back to the castle, but her father is still disgusted by his daughter's new way of life. So once more they have to flee, just to tumble in the horror of the war.

THE EMBRACE
A man known for his sexual prowess hires a young girl to be his servant because she can make good coffee. She is raped by the man and soon becomes her willing sex slave. He slaps her around before making love, which is the only behavior she finds repugnant...

After their startling first two films (CASH? CASH!, 1967 and THE EMBRACE, 1969), Paul Collet and Pierre Drouot decided the time fit to aim at the make-love-not-war-generation as well as to lure those who learned to appreciate Flemish cinema with MIRA. In LOUISA, A WORD OF LOVE, a costume drama set at the eve of World War I, MIRA's shooting star Willeke Van Ammelrooy, plays a bewildering but vivacious aristocrat who plunges herself into a relationship with two bohemians. D.O.P Eddy Van der Enden, of MIRA fame, creates some notorious soft focus shots and also stages a playful interpretation of Manet's "Déjeuner sur l'herbe".
