Since february 1978, Gérard Courant has been directing filmed portraits : the Cinématons. His work in progress includes silent 8 mm film rolls where various artists are filmed during 3'20'' in a situation he/she has chosen. Second takes are not allowed, no editing is made. Nowdays, more than 2000 Cinématons have been shot. This treasure is very often screened in prestigious festivals, in theatrical rooms, on TV or in the museums, in the frame of retrospectives or tributes.
